BASF, Petronas Sign Deal for Johor Complex, Advance Kuantan

BASF and Petronas have signed a heads of agreement (HoA) to develop jointly several downstream projects within the companies' previously announced Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development(Rapid) complex at Pengerang in the state of Johor, Malaysia near Singapore. The companies have also confirmed that they have taken "the next steps" in the development of a previously announced investment to expand their existing complex at Kuantan, Malaysia. The combined investment in the two projects will be ?1 billion($1.33 billion). The projects will be implemented between 2015 and 2018.
