Ineos and Solvay confirm plans for vinyls JV; Solvay to exit PVC

Ineos and Solvay have confirmed CW's exclusive report that they are forming a vinyls joint venture (CW, May 6, p. 7). The companies announced that they have signed a letter of intent (LOI) to combine their chlor-vinyl activities in Europe to form a 50-50 jv. The combination would create a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) producer ranking among the top three worldwide in terms of capacity. It would be the second-largest producer, behind Shin-Etsu Chemical and ahead of Formosa Plastics.
