Sabic , ExxonMobil to Develop Rubber Industry in Saudi Arabia

Sabic and ExxonMobil Chemical have announced further details of their elastomers joint venture at Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia, and explained how the planned, state-of-the-art synthetic rubber manufacturing complex would help the country to diversify its industry. The companies are investing a combined $3.4 billion in the project, which is scheduled to be onstream in the second half of 2015. It will produce a combined 400,000 m.t./year of products including 110,000 m.t./year of halobutyl rubber and a combined 290,000 m.t./year of ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM), carbon black, styrene butadiene rubber (SBR), and polybutadiene rubber.
