EPA Bolter MACT Rule Proposal Due Out In October; Final Rule Due in 2012

U.S. EPA says it will propose a final draft of new maximum achievable control technology (MACT) standards for industrial boilers in October, after a public comment period, and finalize the rules by April of next year. The agency was forced to issue new boiler MACT standards by a court order that deemed a previous revision inadequate. Under the Clean Air Act, EPA is bound to reconsider boiler MACT every ten years. The public comment period will close on July 15.
