U.S. Chlor-Alkali Operating Rates Plunged in December

North American chlor-alkali operating rates took a tumble in December, falling six percentage points from November to 76%, according to the Chlorine Institute (Arlington, VA). Chlorine production fell about 6% in December compared with November, to 1,561,737 tons. About 37,654 fewer tons of chlorine gas and 12,449 fewer tons of liquid chlorine were produced, down about 4.2% and 1.7%, respectively.
