Rhodia Plans Nylon Intermediates Boost in Brazil; Forms Silicates JV in China

Rhodia says it will invest euro 30 million (40.9 million) to increase production of phenol and cyclohexanol at Paulinia,Brazil.The project entails a 25% increase in phenol and acetone capacities,and a 43% increase in cyclohexanol capacity,Rhodia says.The company says the market for phenol and cyclohexane is growing about 5%-6%/ year,driven by demand for nylon and phenolic resins in Latin America.Phenol is a raw material in phenolic resins,while cyclohexane is used to make nylon.
