NAS Review Shows EPA May 'Overstate' Dioxin Cancer Risk

EPA's 2003 assessment of potential health risks associated with dioxin understates the uncertainties and may overstate its cancer risk,according to a review by the National Academies of Sciences' (NAS;Washington) National Research Council.EPA's 2003 analysis,which is considered a draft pending peer review by NAS,found that exposure to dioxin may cause cancer and other diseases,even at the lowest detectable exposure levels.
