Gazprom and Dow Firm up Petchem JV Plans;Sibur Joins

Gazprom(Moscow)and Dow Chemical have firmed up their previously announced joint venture negotiations by signing a "memorandum of intent in the sphere of hydrocarbons processing." Sibur(Moscow),a Gazprom affiliate that is Russia's biggest producer of petrochemicals,also signed the memorandum.Gazprom and Dow say that the agreement could lead to formation of a jv that would expand petchem facilities operated by Dow in Germany,or build new facilities there,and establish a jv that would build a world-scale petchem complex in Russia.
