Rentech Completes Purchase of Agrium Unit

Rentech(Denver)says it has completed the purchase of an 830-ton/day ammonia plant at East Dubuque,IL from Agrium for a total 70 million.The facility reported sales of 120 million last year.Rentech recently raised 113 million via a share offering and convertible senior notes issue that it will use to fund the purchase.The company intends to invest a total of 800 million to convert the facility's feedstock from natural gas to coal,and install its Fischer-Tropsch technology to produce fuels and electricity,as well as fertilizers.
