In this issue of Blood, Nazi and colleagues have demonstrated that patients with immune thrombocytopenia (FTP) who receive rituximab display impaired responses to immunization with pneumococcal and Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) vaccines. Although similar observations have been reported in patients with other disorders who have received rituximab, this is the first study to examine this issue in patients with ITP.1
