Response: In the scheme (Fig. 4), 'PC-PLC was indicated on the basis of our results of PC-PLC activation by D7 (Fig. 1C). Others have also suggested the role of PC-PLC in cytosolic increase of calcium and subsequent cell death [2,3]. In addition, Fig. IB on D7-in-duced increase in cytosolic calcium clearly showed the inhibitory effect of U73122, referred to as 'PC-PLC inhibitor' in our article based on the reference of Nofer et al. [4]. However, reports have also suggested inhibitory action of U73122 on both PC-PLC and PI-PLC [5,6], In this ambiguous scenario, our result should be interpreted as the role of both PLCs in D7-induced modulation of calcium; hence, it would be pertinent to read 'PLC in place of 'PC-PLC in Fig. 4.
