The latest (2012) impact factor, released by Thomson Reuters in June 2013, is an impressive 7.604, up from 7.404 the year before. The impact of the journal continues its rise and it remains the No. 1 journal in the category Biomaterials.I would like to announce an important editorial change.The appointment of Professor David Williams as Editor-in-Chief of Biomaterials will come to completion at the end of 2014 with the expiration of his last contract. The year 2014 will be a transitional year for the journal, with an overlap of the outgoing and incoming editorial teams.I am very pleased to welcome to Biomaterials a new Editor-in-Chief, Professor Kam Leong from Duke University in Durham, NC, USA (until now member of the International Editorial Board), as of 1 January 2014.
