Hypersensitivity Reaction

A 25-year-old man presented with anerythematous, pruritic, scaly, macu-lar rash that had begun behind hisears and spread over his neck, chest,trunk, and upper and lower extremities.The palms and soles were spared. The patient was febrile (tempera-ture, 38.7°C [101.7°F]) and had a drycough for 1 day, generalized lymphade-nopathy, and a congested pharynx. Hedenied nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or ab-dominal pain, weight loss, headache,neck stiffness, joint pains, and urinarysymptoms or urethral discharge.
