Challenge to energy efficiency under sustainable development

Energy efficiency is generally a critical element for policies aimed at reducing energy consumption with respect to a sustainable development. Nowadays concern about the climate change, care for human health and the search for secure supply are the main drives for our daily activities. It is expected that each of greenhouse gas producers will opt for a fuel-switching policy and energy efficiency measures that permit reductions in CO{sub}2 emissions. The mixture of geopolitical feeling, suasion, regulation, fiscal incentive, information process and R&D for innovative technologies will contribute to overcome the existing barriers.
