Market-based approaches to arranging automatic regulation of frequency and power

Russian and foreign experience in the construction and development systems for automatic regulation of frequency and power (ARFP) is briefly analysed. Some models of ARFP are considered, and their advantages and shortcomings are discussed from the viewpoint of a competitive market. A poor adequacy of a vertically-integrated model of ARFP to the market conditions in electric power engineering is substantiated. A possible way of arranging the regulation of frequency in Russia is proposed.
