By analyzing the coefficients of the polynomial of the characteristic equation of slightly disturbed motion of a system, and by calculation, the specific features of long-distance transmission lines with no intermediate compensating facilities are shown The zones of static stability and the corresponding range of the possible lengths of transmission lines are determined. Quantitative estimates are made of various factors (the distribution of the transmission line parameters, die damping circuits of the generator, etc.) which can extend this range. Some specific features of the control of generator excitation in the range of 2400-3000 km are shown.
