Sodium metabisulfite in blue jeans: An unexpected cause of textile contact dermatitis

Textile contact allergy might be underreported, and warrants a high index of suspicion (1). Usually, the dyes in textiles are mainly responsible for the dermatitis, which often presents as a dry eczema, and sometimes mimics atopic dermatitis (2). However, other additives used during the manufacture of textiles can also be potential allergens, and may be overlooked.
