摘要

In explosion welding, the initial section of a joint of soft aluminium can form in a special mode with high velocities of the contact point movement. This section of the joint is characterized by high porosity and low strength, and only special measures allow shortening its length or eliminating it completely. An interpretation of the mechanism of cumulative jets formation is given, attributing it to the instability of the flow of the surface layer of the metal, approaching the plate contact zone and being slowed down. It is suggested that the same mechanism is responsible for formation of "humps" in the modes of explosion welding with wave formation.
