Technology of laser surfacing and heat treatment of parts of railway car wheelsets

The importance of solving the problems of hardening of the roll surfaces of wheels is shown. Drawbacks of traditional repair technologies intended for reconditioning of necks of axles of railway car wheelsets are considered. It is suggested that laser surfacing and heat treatment could be used for the purpose. An example of experimental-commercial application of the recommended laser technologies in the 《Irkutsk Sortirovochny》 car depot (Russia) is described.
