摘要

Medical X-ray images involve background variation of gray levels. By removing it, more quantitative use of gray level information is expected as well as simplified image processing. In X-ray images, photographic density-based gray levels are locally maximum where affected less from other organs. In this paper, an envelope surface is obtained for such maxima by analogy with dynamics. An elastic net is put on the relief structure of the image by a free fall. The final state, the envelope, is an estimate for the background variation. The envelope is discussed with application for image quality improvement.
