摘要

InP-based photonic devices have yielded monolithic integration of various functionalities in addition to miniaturization, high efficiency and low power dissipation, and they have been widely used as a key device for optical communication systems from the time-division-multiplexing method to the digital coherent transmission technology. Furthermore, InP-based monolithic integration technologies have been exploited for near and middle-infrared wavelength region devices which can be adopted in sensing applications, such as a medical diagnosis and environmental gas monitors. In this presentation, we mainly review InP-based monolithically integrated photonic devices for compact and low power dissipation coherent transceivers and also report InP-based middle-infrared quantum cascade lasers. Finally, we discuss future prospect of photonic integrated circuits.
