摘要

The way the story of dinosaurs is usually told, it was a few British scientists and commoners who made the first discoveries. Local folklore about discoveries of odd footprints and strange bones in the Connecticut River Valley has long since fallen into obscurity. As a result, we're often surprised to learn that this seemingly tame place was once home to thriving populations of dinosaurs. Evidence about the early Age of Dinosaurs is actually found all around us in the Connecticut River Valley. Many fantastic beasts from the Mesozoic Era, or the middle ages of life on earth, have become known from the living traces they left in the mud and later mudstones of central Connecticut and western Massachusetts.
