The theory of elastic nonsaturated contact between rough surfaces

The theory of Kraguelskii-Demkin is summarized for the elastic nonsaturated contact between a rough and a smooth surfaces. Projections on the rough surface are modeled with a paraboloid of revolution. Functional equations have been derived combining the function of distribution of the projections according to their heights with the reference curve of the profile for a given lunction of the shape of a projection. The spherical model of Zhuravlev has served to tackle the problem of elastic contact between two identical rough surfaces.
