The integral criterion of rating the tribological behavior of lubricating materials using a four-ball workbench

An example of motor and transmission oils has served to validate the standard methods of rating the tribological characteristics of lubricating materials, their advantages and disadvantages are outlined. A new integral criterion of lubricity is proposed which is based on theoretical postulates and experimental data.
