We evaluate the relative contribution of accumulation of ASE and of crosstalk from space-division multiplexed interferers to the Q penalty of received signals in multi-core fiber systems. We perform experimental evaluations for QPSK and QAM modulation formats, as well as for several bit rates. First, we validate the crosstalk emulation model. Then, we perform quantitative evaluations for several signal configurations. From these results, we clarify the variations of the figure of merit of equivalent OSNR, which can be used to predict the received Q factor in presence of ASE and crosstalk.
