Korea ahead in lithium race

Korea is likely to become the leader of the global lithium ion battery market this year. In the first quarter of 2011, Japanese lithium ion battery makers took up 38% of the global market and their Korean counterparts tailgated them by recording 37.7%. The country-by-country gap was narrower than at any time though Samsung SDI has once beaten Sanyo to top the list.
