This year could see the tipping-point for energy storage systems with forecasts predicting a 15-fold increase on 2016 in global revenue. The US is currently leading the way when it comes to energy storage deployment, at least according to a report by GTM Research/ Energy Storage Association. The review said total deployment in 2015 was up 243% to more than 150MW to 221MW/ 161MWh- with lithium-ion being used in 96% of systems.
