Many in the battery industry believe lead-acid is entering its sunset stage, but US company Integral Technologies has other ideas and is positive that its plastic bipolar plate patent will revolutionise the sector's fortunes. The wholly owned subsidiary of ElectriPlast Corporation has a patent pending on a plate which replaces multiple layers of grids, paste and separators which could potentially make lead-acid batteries lighter.
