To use brewer’s refuse as adsorbent adsorption of metal ions and acid dyes on them and their reaction products with 1,3,5—triacryloylhexahydro—1,3,5— triazine(TAF) wue examined. The refuse samples used in the present study are protein rich fraction (Pr) and cellulosics rich fraction (Fir) obtained by sift-ing brewer’s refuse. Adsorptive experiments wae candim~ed by a batchwise method at 303 K. Pr adsorbed more metal ions such as Cr’~, NP~, Co~. especially Fe3~, Hg’~ and CUZ+ than Hr. But both refuses hardly adsorbed Ca~. Also Pr adsorbed mine acid dyes, especially more hydrophorbic C. I., Acid Red 88 than C. I. Acid Oran~c7— thagi Hr at pH 5. By crosslinking Pr and Hr using TAP adsorp-tion of acid dyes increased mark~y, but alsoqiitkui of mndal ions decreased. Therefore Pr can be used as adsorbent for acid dyesand meta1~m~it~. Mmw,uthe crosslinked products are excellent adsor-bents for acid dyes.
