Infrastructure Australia predicts Sydney will hit 5.1 million inhabitants by 2031; Melbourne will reach 6 million, Perth 3.2 million and Brisbane 3.1 million, with lesser rises in population for Adelaide, Canberra, Hobart and Darwin (see box for regional details). The latest Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) predictions show an expected national population of up to 42.5 million by 2056 and, at the time of writing, the count was 24,268,777. This indicates Australia's population could almost double in the next 30 years, which should mean plenty of concrete mixing.
