Precast speeds completion of Network Information Center

The erection of a new Network information Center in Billerica, Mass., was completed in only eight months - a window project officials report is much faster than the 18-24 months typically required for such a complex technical facility. Using insulated precast panels from Strescon Industries, Inc. for the exterior of the building proved crucial to meeting such an aggressive schedule for the 110,000-sq.-ft. structure, which was completed in December 2000.Visibility to the exterior was not a critical requirement for this facility; however, the ability to control the environment within the building was deemed essential. The Strescon wall panels fulfilled both of these requirements by providing an insulated core and removing the need to construct a partition at the inside face of the panels.
