We've all heard the predictions of doom and gloom over the future of the book and of the library as an institution: Electronic books will make printed books obsolete and Internet access will replace visits to the library. Yet, despite these predictions, printed books and libraries not only still exist, but (in the case of the Monroeville Public Library at least) are being heavily used. In the last few years, both our circulation statistics and library usage statistics have risen with the former hitting an all-time high last year.
