Were it not for the library's 802.11 Wi-Fi connections, which are open to the public, the local newspaper would not have been published a few days ago. The electricity in the downtown area suddenly went out. This affected the offices of The Sun (http://www.thesunlink.com) in Bremerton. Their editor called our director, Ellen Newberg, and pleaded for help. A few phone calls later, after their tech guy called our tech gal, everything' was figured out. A troop of reporters sporting Mac laptops arrived, set up shop at the library beneath the Wi-Fi hubs, and began typing away furiously. We kept the library open for them after business hours. A few minutes after the electricity returned to downtown, they packed up their laptops and trooped out again.
