Update on ISO Standards in Condition Monitoring

ISO 17359 Condition monitoring and diagnostics of machines - General Guidelines is the umbrella document for a series of International Standards relating to Condition Monitoring and Diagnostics. ISO 17359 was originally issued in 2003 and has been well taken up by the condition monitoring sub-industry, improving the quality of implementations, systems and the capability of personnel. ISO 17359 has now been extensively revised with a second edition issued in April 2011. This second edition now includes additional Annexes showing the full range of CM Standards, and more machine types tables with typical example of fault and failure modes and their associated symptoms and measurement parameters. This paper presents highlights of this new edition of ISO 17359, and an update on the current progress in CM Standardisation.
