We have developed a novel islanding phenomenon detection system for dispersed power sources. It is composed of a specific interharmonics current generator and a system impedance monitoring unit which calculates the interharmonic impedance by using DFT operation of voltages and currents on the distribution line. The merits of our system are as follows; (1) Its influence on utility network is negligible. (2) Its performance is not subject to other power sources with similar detection system. (3) It is able to detect islanding phenomenon within 1 sec.
