Would that libraries could redefine the library experience. The truth is, no one really has a library experience anymore, at least not when a computer is involved. What librarians wish could be a library experience is actually an online experience. Because our experiences online are now mostly defined by the corporate sector, libraries find themselves in a race to capture market share from online companies more nimble, more liquid, and more technically savvy. Redefining the library experience means going way back to an early part of the historical circle--back to a time when a library was defined by quality, expertise, integrity, and longevity, hallmarks that distinguished it from bookstores and publishing houses.
