Heterogeneous Photocatalysis has been widelystudied during these last decades, but few applications havebeen reported. In this lecture general definitions and principlesrelated to Photocatalysis and some ideas on the potentialapplication of this particular area of Catalysis are presented. Thepossible coupling of photocatalytic methods with othertechnologies in the abatement of organic and inorganicpollutants dissolved in water and in the oxidation of volatileorganic compounds (VOC's) in gas-solid systems are suggested.Finally some case studies in gas-solid an din liquid-solid and inliquid-solid systems are shown.
