The Timken Company has expanded its array of machinery and equipment reliability systems and products to include a remote monitoring and diagnostics service, which is available in the USA, Canada and Mexico. According to the company, which is based in Canton, Ohio, USA, the service will improve predictive maintenance activities for machinery used in the heavy-industry and power-transmission markets, including the metals, pulp and paper, food, mining, power-generating, chemical processing and cement sectors. The service provides continuous, plant-wide predictive monitoring of rotating equipment. Components include permanently mounted plug-and-play sensors, field units that have built-in digital signal processors for signal analysis, a wireless architecture and Web-based applications.
