Lean-premixed and catalytic combustion are considered the most promising low-pollution combustion systems for a micro gas turbine. A highly uniformed, lean-premixed combustion is adopted in current gas turbines, and catalytic combustion has been developed as an ultra-low NO{sub}x combustor. However, it is not clear how low the levels formed by those combustion systems will be or why catalytic combustion yields lower NO{sub}x than lean-premixed combustion. This study seeks to clarify the combustion characteristics of the low-pollution combustion systems mentioned above using a uniform mixture. This report describes mixture uniformity as the basis of the following reports.
