The Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Inc., (JAMA) and the Japan Automobile Research Institute (JARI) are collaborating to develop a biofidelic flexible pedestrian legform impactor (Flex-PLI) because the current major pedestrian legform impactor, the Transport Research Laboratory pedestrian legform impactor (TRL-PLI), lacks biofidelity. This paper introduces the Flex-PLI that has flexible bone and a humanlike knee joint, and demonstrates its high biofidelity.
