摘要

In order to predict deterioration of concretecooled to very low temperature cyclically, the deterioration ofmortar specimens exposed to two kinds of cooling and heatingconditions is researched. By means of representing watercondition in capillary pores by average degree of saturation, therelation between deterioration and degree of saturation ofcapillary pores is investigated. These experimental results showthat deterioration depends on when severer cooling and heatingcondition acts to specimen and the degree of saturation isgradually decreased as the specimen is deteriorated. Finally,based on these results, the possibility of predicting thedeterioration of concrete subjected to such severe freezing andthawing actions is discussed. We conclude that provided thatdeterioration curves associated with each cooling and heatingconditions are obtained, the prediction of deterioration ispossible to some extent.
