Storage proteins of sugar beet seeds, their heterogeneity and variability in ontogeny and polymorphism

A general survey of literature data on plant storage proteins has been made, the results of the investigations on beet seed proteins being discussed. Biochemical parameters of beet storage proteins (electrophoretic and immunochemical heterogeneity, aminoacid composition, molecular weight, relation to cryoprecipitation), physiological role and variability in ontogeny and diferent genotypes are presented. The possibility and prospects of the use of these proteins polymorphysm in estimating the breeding material have been shown.
