Relationship between gametophytic and sporophytic generations of sunflower was studied for the content of oleic acid. It was found that content of this acid in pollen lipids from low-oleic (on a sporophytic level)line was almost three times smaller than in high-oleic analog. The essential differences between compared samples were observed for the content of linolenic and palmitic acids as well. Using variety VNIIMK 8883 as an example it was shown that content of oleic acid in seed descendants from self-pollination of high-oleic (on pollen level) plant in comparison with low-oleic one was much higher. It is supposed that the approach, based on evaluation of the content of some fatty acids in pollen lipids, can be used for early screening for oil quality in sunflower breeding.
