Apple tree cultivation under irrigated conditions.

In trials in the Ukraine, apples (cv. Golden Delicious on M.9 rootstock) were grown under the following 5 irrigation regimes between 1990 and 2003: (1) irrigation threshold of 80% of field capacity at 1 m soil depth, (2) 80% at 0-40 cm depth, (3) 70% at 0-40 cm depth, (4) 80% before and 70% after harvest at 0-40 cm depth and (5) control (no irrigation). Data on yields in 1994-2003 for each treatment are presented. The highest yields (254.2 t/ha) were obtained with the first treatment.
