Recommended assortment of fruit crops for orchard zones of the Krasnodar region (using apple as an example).

Climatic and soil conditions of the Krasnodar region, Russia are described and data characterizing various orchard zones are tabulated. Recommendations on the assortment of fruits cultivated in various zones are given. Pip fruits are recommended as the major fruit crop (47% apple, 10% pear and 1% quince). Recommendations on apple cultivars best suited for particular zones are presented. Data on forecasted productivity of the cultivars calculated using soil and climatic data of the zones are tabulated. The authors conclude that use of new cultivars with higher adaptation properties will allow greater fulfillment of the productivity potential of the crops.
