Elastotic striae associated with striae distensae after application of very potent topical corticosteroids.

Elastotic striae, first described by Burket et al. in 1989, are yellow, linear, palpable lesions, most commonly occurring on the lower back and upper legs. The underlying aetiopathological mechanism is unclear. Some researchers believe that the formation of elastotic striae represents a regenerative process of striae distensae, whereas others believe it might be a distinct entity.We describe the appearance of elastotic striae subsequent to striae distensae triggered by corticosteroid cream application.
