Evaluation of the VIR's world collection of Sudan grass (Sorghum sudanense) in Saratov province in 2000-2001 revealed wide variation in several characteristics, such as earliness, regrowth and resistance to fungal diseases. This variation is seen asvaluable in the first steps of a breeding programme.
