Tunnels and territorial structure in polygyne fire ants, Solenopsis wagneri (Hymenoptera, Formicidae).

摘要

The spatial-functional structure of the polygyne Solenopsis wagneri was studied on a 4X12 m plot of a pasture in Arkansas, USA, during August-October, 1993. The trail vector method and the method of alternate nest exclusion from foraging were used.The results showed that S. wagneri communities have stable interfamiliar structures connected by tunnels.
