A proposal on candidate paths selection in localized QoS routing protocols

In OPSP-based QoS routing protocols, we have to determine an appropriate exchange rate of advertising packets to gather precise information about the network traffic by keeping the increase of additional traffic due to advertising packets as small as possible. In this paper, we propose a new method for selecting an adequate path to the destination node without explicitly using advertising packets. The proposed method is based on the dynamic maintenance of the information acquired from result of past resource reservations, that is maintained in the form of a linear list of intermediate node. By the result of experiments we found that the success probability of resource reservations could be improved especially when there is a spatial imbalance of the traffic load, compared with conventional localized QoS routing methods.
