摘要

Molecular Computing is a research field that aims to analyze the computational power of biomolecules such as DNA and protein, and seek its engineering applications. In this article, we survey the current research in molecular computing and show its expected development in the future. We first explain the Adleman-Lipton paradigm based on the pioneering work by Adleman, and the efforts to improve it. We then describe the field of autonomous molecular computing, which aims at more fundamental analysis on the computational power of molecules. We also survey new computational paradigms including molecular computing. We finally give a perspective on research in molecular computing, explaining the idea of molecular programming, which the author is now advocating.
